Privacy notice
Short version: everything stays on your device.
What stays on your device
Proof & Measure is a static web app. Your theme choice, timer and planner progress, starter profile and feeding log, and any opt-in email are saved only in this browser (localStorage). Recipe photos you scan are read on your device by an open-source text-recognition engine and are never uploaded. There are no analytics, no cookies, and no third-party scripts.
You can delete all of it by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. The starter manager can also export a backup file that only you hold.
Optional baking tips by email
- What: baking tips and recipes, about once a week. Nothing else.
- Who sends the emails and keeps the list: the newsletter provider (TBD). It may be a partner or sponsor rather than the app itself. Whoever runs the list keeps the email addresses of people who sign up, together with their consent records, so it can send these emails and prove you agreed. They will be named here, with their contact details, before signups go live.
- Consent: the box is unchecked by default and the form can't be sent without it.
- Double opt-in: once a signup service is connected, you'll get a confirmation email first and are only subscribed after clicking its link. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
- Never sold. Your email is used only to send these tips. It is shared only with the newsletter provider that runs the list (and the email service it uses to send), not with advertisers.
- Proof of consent: with your email we keep the exact wording you agreed to, its version, and the date and time (UTC) you agreed, so we can show what you signed up for.
- Unsubscribing: every email will end with: “You're getting this because you signed up for baking tips. Unsubscribe with one click, any time. [Sender name and postal address, TBD]”. Unsubscribing takes effect before the next email.
- Using the app never requires an email. Signing up is optional; app stores don't allow making email a condition of using an app, and we don't.
- Today (prototype): no signup service is connected. Signing up only saves your email in this browser; nothing is sent anywhere.
Advertising
Pages may show a clearly labeled “Advertisement” placeholder. Right now it is an empty box: no ad network is connected, no ad code runs, no ad cookies are set and nothing is loaded from other sites.
If ads are added later
- Ad cookies: an ad network (for example Google AdSense) may use cookies or similar identifiers on your device to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ads and detect fraud.
- Personalization: ads may be personalized from your browsing on this and other sites only if you allow it. You can choose non-personalized ads, which use only the page you're on, and you can change your choice at any time from a “Privacy choices” link in the footer.
- Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland: before any ad or ad cookie loads, you'll be asked for consent through a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP) that supports the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework. Without consent, no ad cookies are set.
- The ad slots stay clearly labeled “Advertisement”, never sit next to timers, starter alerts or the scanner, and are never pop-ups or sticky ads.
YouTube link
The "Watch on YouTube" button at the bottom of each tab is an ordinary external link to the Stephanie at Home channel (youtube.com/@stephanie_hamley). It opens in a new tab. The app doesn't embed YouTube videos or load any YouTube or Google script, so nothing is sent to YouTube unless you tap the link. After that, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.
